4 day work week? 02/26/2009

The state of Utah has imposed a 4 day work week on its employees but they will have to work 10 hours. This way they get a  full paycheck each week.

This will cut utilities in offices, the commute time , gas money and create opportuinites for second jobs.PLUS, we are helping the environment.

I would personally love a 4 day work week and think it should become a national phonemenon.Am I alone in thinking this?

Background:

A policeman was forced to shoot a monkey in Connecticut after it attacked a woman. This would sound relatively ordinary until the story was made into a parody and included a headline that read " They will have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill" We all know that Pres Obama just signed the stimulus bill into law just yesterday. While this is not blatant, there are some VERY STRONG racial undertones.

Which should I choose and why?

I was not planning on saying anything about the Chris Brown incident but I might as well. So, there a scuffle or some sort of fight between Chris Brown and Rihanna Saturday night.Since she wasnt identified, I assumed he was with a "lady of the night".I was already disgusted but reports surfaced that it was Rihanna. She  was left with a black eye etc.I feel for her as the victim but Im more perplexed because it seems so out of character for him to do such a thing. Its like Bow Wow saying he is a virgin.
Now all kinds of rumours are coming up saying that she gave him an STD and that he was a controlling boyfriend etc.Whatever the case may be, my conclusion is this...

CHRIS BROWN WAS HIGH ON SOME TYPE OF DRUG!

unfortunately, he may spend the rest of his life paying for that but then again, R Kelly is still making and selling music....stay tuned....

Three of the new adminstration's nominated cabinet members had their tax liabilities exposed.

Tim Geithner - owed $128,000( current head of treasury)
Tom Daschle - did not disclose income of $83,000 ( withdrew nomination).

Nancy Killefer - owed Few Hundred ( withdrew nomination)

I also just found out that Teresa Heinz, owner of Heinz Foods, only paid 12% of her income in taxes. She was able to find enough loopholes in the tax code to justify it.This is crazy! Poor people pay regular taxes and the rich and powerful don't?Why is it so hard to pay taxes?

Many of us( like me ) only watched the game for the commercials. It was clear that ad campaign budgets were cut this year.We didnt see any blockbuster movies to look forward to, no celebrity endorsements etc but there were a few funny ones.

My favorte is the E Trade one with the two babies.Which ones were your faves?

The financial sector is not doing well ....or so we thought! They were bailed out by taxpayers in order to cover their losses and most people were okay with the idea. Citigroup, after accepting $45B, is looking to buy a $50M jet for its executives. This comes after they put together a plan to cut an astonishing 52,000 jobs.

At the same time, we have now learnt that some Wall Street execs received $18B in bonuses.....bonuses for what?they all postes losses in their books. The $18B should be deducted from the bailout balance, seriously!

We have,b y now, all heard of the woman with the octuplets now having 14 kids. It was also revealed that she took fertility pills. Now, I am not a doctor but I know this is only available by prescription.

Why would any doctor prescribe fertility pills to a woman who already had 6?Thank God for science but she CLEARLY doesn't need help concieving.Shouldn't there be restrictions on who should have access to these pills? Are there any controls at all? I think only people with fertility problems should have access to these pills.Just my two cents....

As I was getting ready for work this morning, I was watching Good Morning America and there was a story on Ted Haggard (The former pastor of a megachurch that was accused of  drug use and homosexuality ). He claims to be restored and transformed and now sells insurance for a living.

This got me thinking about if he can ever preach again.God tells us to forgive but would you sit down at a church  and listen to him preach knowing what he did? Can he ever become the pastor he was once was?

BTW, more sexual accusations have resurfaced.

Last week,President Barack Obama reversed a ban implemented by  George W. Bush, on funding for international groups that perform abortions or provide information about the procedures to women abroad.Basically America is paying for abortions performed abroad.

Honestly, I was a little disappointed that this was one of the first actions he took .I dont  think  America is in a good position to pay for abortions performed abroad.WE ARE IN AN ECONOMIC CRISIS!!!!

Why is America paying for these abortions?
