President Obama has been invited to  speak at graduation ceremony at Arizona State University next month.Typically, invited speakers have been public figures and are usually bestowed an honorary degree as a sign of gratitude. This time, the university, has refused to give an award to Obama stating "his body of work is yet to come."

Aside from his extensive education and legal experience, he is the nation's first black president!

Are they waiting for the results of the stimulus package? After, much deliberation, they decided to name a scholarship after the president.I think its too little, too late.

Well.. Guess there will always be naysayers and detractors..... Methinks Obama is focused enough to just get on with the job.. When its politically convinient, these same peeps will turn tail and laud him to the high heavens if he delilvers.. typical politics methinks.

ASU should have know better, a university of all places should be able to correctly communicate its intent

If his body of work is not befitting of an Honorary degree , then why invite him to speak in the first place?

If ASU felt that a scholarship program better recognises his achievements, then why was that not stated in the first communication ?

Unfortuantely, Obama does not have the liberty to be petty and turn down ASU's invitation.
